Der Peer-Tutoring-Ansatz bewährt sich gerade im Bereich der Medienpädagogik, denn Schüler der Unterstufenklassen nehmen ältere Mitschüler im Bezug auf den Umgang mit digitalen Medienwelten in der Regel als kompetenter wahr als ihre Lehrkräfte. Diesen Peer-Effekt macht sich auch Netzgänger zunutze und bildet so seit Jahren einen zentralen Baustein in der medienpädagogischen Präventionsarbeit an etlichen Schulen in ganz Bayern.
Es kommt dabei sogar ein doppelter Peer-Effekt zum Tragen, denn schon in der Vorbereitung der Tutoren kommen erprobte Peers aus dem vorherigen Jahrgang zum Einsatz und geben als Workshop-Referenten am jährlichen Netzgänger-Tag (29. Januar 2021) ihre Erfahrungen an ihre Nachfolger weiter. Die begleitenden Lehrkräfte gewährleisten deren fundierte Ausbildung im Rahmen eines Profilkurses oder Seminars, planen die inhaltliche wie organisatorische Umsetzung der Projekts, halten sich während des Tutoriums allerdings eher im Hintergrund.
Die verschiedenen Schritte bis zur Durchführung des Tutoriums gegen Ende eines Schuljahres sollten sich in etwa an folgendem Ablaufplan orientieren:
